Another self-contribution to Dinnerjacket's demise. I find paragraphs 4 & 5 of page 2 quite interesting:

I think I was hoping the sun and daily mail had been shut down.

Please don't get me excited like that.

Anyway Iran don't have an Obama as they don't really get to vote. But also they don't have the same celebrity status that got him in power. I mean lets be honest and ask most of the public who voted what his policies were.

Not having a dig Jim, but didn't your military bomb the crap out of Al Jazeera in Iraq, although it was claimed an accident it seems a strange coincidence they consistently reported stuff the US government didn't like.

Perhaps your new president elect (muslimish but of indeterminate religious allegiance) will follow President I'manutjobs example and shut down Fox. Not for political reasons, just for the sake of your countries collective intellect! biggrin

So very true. There is however, according to the write up, a very popular and charismatic fellow that has yet to announce his candidacy. I suppose it would come down to the "supreme leader". allowing it.

Most likely it was no accident. However, we have yet to bomb and/or shut down any of our own newspapers; I think that is a significant difference (although there are some that may need it here). wink

biggrin Actually, various media watch groups have graded Fox as the most balanced network during election coverage. Their stories, both positive and negative, for both candidates were pretty even. Others were very lopsided in favor of Obama only. Honestly, like it or not, they are a long-needed balance in a very left-leaning media world.

Oh, I know they are balanced, they treat all their viewers like retarded toddlers on Ritalin. . . . . smash

I think they were just demonstrating which weapons do what, so that they could report it on!

Im not a fox news kinda guy, but I did stop on that channel more than once during the election because they were the only one covering one of Michell or Baraks speeches while I was scanning channels.
They even covered the speeches without commentary on top of it...
Kinda strange, but it could also be subject tot he fact that the base did not like McCain. Because of "McCain Feingold act", his vote on the death tax, Phillibuster, and a who slew of other votes that McCain went against the Republican Drones.

No st. CNN, 'the most trusted name in news', my bottom. The most biased name in news, very possibly. Their election coverage was simply the most partisan crap I've ever seen. I can't even vote, and I was appalled at how biased they were. Fox was a beacon of light in comparison (they are as crap as CNN normally, so this is an indication how horrific CNN were).

In general, the media was in favour of Obama and very anti Palin; the number of stories on every one of her goofs was incredible, whereas it appeared that Biden had disapeared off the face of the planet - some of his gaffes appeared in passing (can't really edit out idiocy in real time), but none were ever commented on at length. Judging simply form the lack of follow up coverage, either he said nothing, or everything he said was idiotic.

Some objectivity would have been nice.

Don't know how closely you followed it, but here it apppeared that half the media were smoking Obama's pipe, the other half were digging up anything that resembled dirt on her.

I'd be amazed if one in ten Brit's could name Obama's running mate, I know I would have struggled until reading this thread.

I certainly don't recall seeing a single one of his speeches, yet I saw plenty of Obama's, McCain's and Palin's.

He did make some awful guffs.

Then again all of them I wouldn't vote to be in charge of a residents association, let alone a country.

That is deceptive though. The "news" thay they cited as balanced is the one minute news segments at the top of the hour.

The rest of the 59 minutes is severely slanted to the right.

If Iran did have an Obama, he would have to be white, with say an English father, and an Iranian mother, and a predominantly white family in the Home Counties, with a sick/dying Grandmother in the Isle of Man.

Can't really see the Iranians going for such a bloke really.
