Might be worth ringing the insurance company, pointing out that none of the local overpriced tat shops are ADs, and seeing if you can trade the worthless plastic thing for real money. They'll be doing this as they will have bought it for 90% of the cards face value. Worth a shot.

My folks had something similar after their house was burgled.

The cash "equivalent" they were offered was, IIRC, around 2/3s of the amount on the card.

All seemed very wrong to me, but ultimately the oldies had something in mind to buy and felt the ultimate settlement was OK so fair enough. But I do loathe insurance companies and their weasling ways.

Where abouts are you then, as all of the Ernest Jones branches I can think of near me are all Rolex AD's....???

Wales. I have rang a few Ernest Jones branches, trying to establish who is an A/D and whom might be able to locate a watch. I appreciate there is a waiting list even on the Sub/Date but just thought a branch or private individual might have a canceled or unwanted imminent order.
