I know full moons really make a difference to the night sky, but last night seemed extra bright.

Is it anything to do with the moon being closer to the earth than normal?

Also, its the Leonids soon. Anyone else hoping we have some clear night skys over the next week?

Or am I just sad?? smile

I thought these were in September. What are the dates this year? I'm heading to the West Coast Scotland next week so should be ideal viewing biggrin

When I last checked they were saying around 17th/18th November for the highest rate of sightings per hour. Will have to follow that up.

Edited to add this: http://meteorshowersonline.com/leonids.html

Bah! they've been winding down since 2002. Thought they were good around 2000. Nevermind bounce bring em on!

took the dog for a walk about 8pm in a usually very dark park, was almost like daylight. Dog went nuts running around. Amazingly bright.

Yeah, was pretty bright. Thought it must of been something someone had slipped into my roll up.

I went back downstairs about 1/2 hour after going to bed moaning that the f'ing kids had left the outside lights on and the price of electricity and what a grumpy git i've become and no.
The moon. Brighter than a really bright thing.

Dooby?!

Nothing better than sitting in the garden on a crisp night looking at the moon and enjoying.

it was sodding bright, which was nice, but makes star gazing a bit difficult.

It did seem very bright last night. I had the camera out and took a few pictures, didn't come out that well though. The lens is good on terrestrial stuff at infinity focus so I need to dos ome research to find out what I was doing wrong.
