Is it normal to get a wheezing/hissing sound from the power steering when turning? Other cars I have had made similar sounds when on full lock, but the Cerb seems to do it whenever I turn the wheel. It feels ok, can just hear a faint noise!

Thanks

Is that now when you have air in the system? mine does'nt make any noise if you turn full lock and hold it it will make a noise if the system has air in it?

Mine has just started making a slight hissing wheezing noise when turning steering wheel at low speed, suppose it could just be the pump working a bit harder although I can hear it through the steering boss..

Not concerned just wondered whether this is normal..

One of my winter jobs to to change the power sterring fluid (it looks like mud through the cap!)...havent had the car long but cant remember it making a noise like that...just wondering if changing the fluid might help...?

Might get that done, not sure whether the cold has effected it aswell, I take it this an hours labour for a specialist to do?

Is it that loud you can hear it over the exhaust noise?

I've been twiddling with my A8 today, and when I started it the PS started to whine a bit.
Just the cold I think!

I can only hear it at very low speeds more of a wheeze/hiss than a whine. The power steering fluid does look a bit past its best. I looked in the handbook but it says nothing about the frequency of changing the fluid either..
