I was due to start work last Monday but only on the proviso my references came through - One hadn't so they wouldn't allow me to start. They're still waiting (despite me nagging) so it looks like I have another week at home twiddling thumbs. I've spent this week doing every odd job under the sun including putting cable ties around every cable I own, categorising screws and dejunking the man drawer where the odds and sods are kept. Obviously I'm bored and the thought of another week at home is not looking rosy.

As such I'm looking desperately for something to do next week. I'm willing to spend up to a hundredish (but no hookers, unless they're lesbian midgets with a fetish for crab pâté). Suggestions please for places to go, things to purchase or perhaps a new hobby to take up. Otherwise I may just get wound up enough about Mr Brown to actually consider something quite illegal. Please help frown

TIA ph chums.

Right.

Here's a list.

(1) Make convincing papier-mache Carol Vorderman.
(2) Bum said facsimile senseless

Er...

That's all I've got so far.

-But its what I'd do.

Sign up with a temp agency and ask for a driving job.

I did this once when my house sale fell through and had a few weeks spare before I could move. They sent me to a plant hire company. I got to deliver and collect mini-diggers and dumper trucks from civil engineering sites all over the place. All I did was play with diggers in the mud and they paid me as well! Only time I've ever had a proper job (the sort where you get dirty!) and I loved it! Dunno how people live on £300 a week though - that just about paid for my lunches. . . . .

1. Repaint the kitchen.
2. Learn to cook really well so there are hot dinners on the table for when your wonderful girlfriend returns from work.
3. Lay new floors in the kitchen, bathroom and ensuite.
4. Get all the little DIY jobs out of the way.
5. Hang some pictures on the wall.
6. Paint an airfix model.
7. Research holiday.
8. Look into learning a musical instrument.
9. Go to the gym.
10. Watch any box sets left over.

Is that enough to keep you busy?

In my experience friends and family raise an eyebrow if the scale is anything less than life size.

-Which for scientists and mathematicians equates to 1:1.

I live off £250 a week quite easily. Must point out i have virtually no out goings apart from petrol and crisps.

If the weather is nice - go for a hike?

South downs, The Ridgeway, Brecons, Lakes, Yorkshire Dales... all nice and quiet this time of year... :-)

Perhaps I didn't do enough of a 'sell' on my guttering job.

You will be working up ladders, at the bottom of which will be my two Rottie/Staffie crosses, barking, angrily. Can't you just smell the adrenaline?!
