I am considering purchasing a Jaguar S type 3.0V6 SE Auto (1999). However, I am unsure of the running costs. What is the real world mpg I could expect? How much for a minor/major service at a Jag/decent independent dealer? Also are there are common faults I should look out for? Are they generally a reliable car? Any help would be much appreciated.

I can answer one question - 26.2mpg. Not great, in fact worse than my 1993 BMW 730iV8 which was a larger heavier car and managed about 28mpg.
