Hello,

Enjoying the Passat TDI, but as it is used there is no owners manual.

Can anyone tell me the difference between "econ" and "auto" settings for the aircon unit.

Thank you please.

Auto will be erm..... automatic....

Econ shuts down the aircon compressor, so it'll still control the temp, but won't use aircon: good for winter, bad for summer! Also, depending on what the ventilation is like in the car, without aircon on you may find the windows steam up.

the book states to set the temp to 22 degrees in auto mode all year round to maintain a pleasant climate,i find this not far wrong in mine
econ mode turns off the cooling system,in this mode heating is regulated without air dehumidifying and cooling, the interior temperature cannot be lower than the ambient temperature

Spank you both very much.

Does using the "auto" mode lower the MPG you guys get?

Thanks again.
