My 280i Tasmin coupe is chassis No. FH5054F1 and was first registered on 24th May 1980.

There is a thread running on the TVRCC site and from that it appears that mine may be the oldest of its type still on the road. Does anyone here know any different?

At times like this the wedgeister would have been useful but it's not online anymore..

Well I sold my 280i FHC chassis # 10 , but not registered til '83 a couple of years back, and she was in excellent condition, so hopefully still on the road, and all the cash I spent on her didn't go to waste. frown

Good luck..

We have a similar list of cars on the SEAC pages :

http://www.theseacpages.co.uk/Database.aspx

but to stop scammers - you really cannot list chassis number as it makes life too easy for fraudsters.

By way of confirmation I am asking if mine may be the oldest 280i Tasmin FHC still on the road.

Certainly the oldest I have heard about Phil, others may know better.
Be interested in a potted history and some pics for The Wedgepages and maybe Sprint article if you were keen, send me PM to sdtvr@yahoo.co.uk

I just purchased a 1980 Tasmin FHC FH5023F1, manufactured in March of that year. Has had extensive work done on it, with 2300 miles on a nicely rebuilt engine, rebuilt transmission, aluminum radiator etc. It was imported into Canada and originally sold by TVR North America in Scarborough, Ontario.
If I knew how to post a picture, I would.

We've got chassis 13 but its not on the road yet, and it was registered in 1982 - seems a lot of early chassis ones registed in 1982/3 for some reason.

Seem to recall reading that quite a few of the early ones where exported to the USA but where impounded due a 'hiccup' in the paperwork and eventually came back to England.

Can anyone confirm this? As it may eplain the late registration of early models......... or am I confusing this with another model? silly

I'm sure it was a batch of M series cars that there held up the US. About £ 500,000 worth from what I've read, there was then a few year's pause before exports resumed.

There was a silver FHC at wedgefest that I think was up for sale. It was the motor show car from Oct 1980 (I remember seeing it there as well) and was shown alongside the new convertible and +2 models. It's slightly different from the very earliest models in that the rear bumper wraps round, and most likely isn't quite as old as yours, but must be pretty close. Very nice all the same.

If its the one I think you mean the chassis number is around 70. Did it have a private reg?

It could have had one, can't actually remember. I can remember thinking how much I preferred the S1 to the S2 that I have!

That's the one. I think I sat in it in 1980 and had my eye on it then!
