Cooper S Brakes and driveshaft problems
Discussion
I recently bought a cooper s brake set up.
Last night I was starting to strip them down for a rebuild before putting on my car.
I have encountered the small problem of shearing off a bleed screw. Is the only solution to this to take it to an engineers and have the rest of it redrilled, then have it tapped out. Im slightly concerned about small bits of swarf getting into the brake hydraulic system.
Second question, how do you get the end of the driveshafts off. One shaft has a full complement of ball bearings in the cage. The other shaft doesnt have any, and the collar is loose on the shaft. Ie, it needs a new bearing on the end, along with a boot.
How do you get the inner end off in order to fit a new bearing. Does the end of the shaft just knock off?

Here you can see the driveshaft end with no bearing on it

and this is how it should look, although a bit cleaner with new grease obviously!

put the shaft in a vice and nip it up TIGHT.
then get a chisle or a decent knock thru screwdriver and put the end against the edge of the inner joint. then whack it and it should ride over the snap ring. - you can see where the shaft stops and the joint begins (its nearly level so hard to start with)
once its moving it will slide easily off.
the only problem is if its rusted one (doesnt look like it, as i cannot see the tell tale rim of rust) or if someone previously has broken the snapring - if this has happend its a lottery if it comes of tbh.
