After several years, i have decided to bite the bullit, and get the Cherry bomb conversion done to the Chim,

after a recommendation from a chap at the last Mid Essex meet i have used Pipecraft in Basildon, and just wanted to show my appreciation by posting a huge praise for Dean at Pipecraft clap , fantastic job, completed in 2 hours, even after he checked the rest of the system out, replacing and tightening some bolts in places!!!! plenty on Pops and Bangs, and a HUGE grin on my face!!!!! biggrin

Should have done it years ago, not sure what the neighbours will think though!!!!! furiousarguepunch

Did they actually fit Cherry bombs or just sleeve the perforated pipes and remove the lagging? Massive difference.

Yeah, but when I had my Griff done 9 year ago it was called a "sports exhaust" conversion, then the Cerbera boys came up with "Cherry bombs" - just wondered what the difference is or... if there's no difference who came up with the expression. confused

Cherry Bomb's have always been Cherry Bombs.. I remember the Mk2 Escort days (just) and people buying Peco ones etc.

The Sports Exhaust conversion is a pretty generic term and i think it differs from company to company on what that actually entails.
Infact the odd company seems to change even its own mind on that one wink

Oh well... I'm even older and can remember fitting a Peco exhaust on my brother's Mini but never remember Peco calling them Cherry bombs? Must be a 70's thing. Presumably "chery bombs" also vary from maker to maker?

No problem.. just looses a bit of power.

Why should there be a loss of power? The two banks are joined at the "Y" piece at the front of the car. On a standard setup the gasses then travel down a single pipe into the silencer where it then splits two ways. If anything there should be a slight increase in power (or torque) due to reduced frictional resistance of the secondary exhaust system.

Please be aware that its late on a Sunday night and I've been drinking 1664 and Vodka (not in the same glass) so I may be talking ste smile
