Left the car on the street at the girlfriends last night (having finally overcome the fear of leaving it on the streets of london..)

What happens?

some tw@ went and keyed the door!

I am LIVID!

Its an S for s sake!
How can this inspire such mindless vandalism?????

Generally I'm a fairly laid back kind of guy - but this makes want to advocate capital punishment for car crime....

As Travoltas character in Pulp Fiction so succinctly puts it -

'you just dont with another mans car'

anyhow - Its Brooklands Racing Green - how best I touch it up?

I can see where someone has had a go before with a mismatched British Racing Green which looks fairly awful and do not want to repeat this...

Oh man Tim! Sorry to hear about it!

You could try to polish it out. Use some Faraclea (Ithink that's how you spell it) followed by some 3M hand glaze. Or if you're feeling a bit daring you colud flat it out with some 1200 or 2000 wet and dry paper then dot the above, depends on how deep it is.

Where in London did this happen?

Before I had my TVR I owned a couple MG Midgets. Didnt have a garage then and parked them on the street. Unfortunately although our road is perfectly respectable it has a footpath at the end which acts as a shortcut from the town to a scummy estate. Had lots of vandalism on the cars down our road: keyed twice, someone took off the roof and emptied a dustbin in it, slashed roof twice, someone ran over it and dented all the panels, and thats just my car.

It just happened that the incidents all took place on the same night each week so I just stayed up one night with some friends and watched.......

Sure enough the little feckers (well actually they were students, about 19) did the usual damage and we just followed them home from a distance. Found out where they lived and watched for a few nights. We were very naughty and totally knackered one of their cars, I mean TOTALLY (paint stripper, slashed all four tyres, smashed the windows, slashed the seats). Was tempting to set fire to it but that could have been too dangerous (parked close to house).

I am not ashamed of it - far from it, I'd admit it in court, and it felt BRILLIANT. To top it off we even kicked in their front door and left a note for them in the kitchen explaing why we had done it (without giving away exactly where we lived). Next week they moved out - admittedly it was close to the end of term but like to think it was because of what we did!

If its at all possible I would recommend this action thoroughly. Well, the police couldnt do sod all so we just thought we'd sort it ourselves.

Earlsfield - quiet side street in an OK area - must just have been some drunk with a chip on his shoulder.... I am trying to think that it may have been done by accident but it looks very unlikely...

XCELLENT jam1et,

That's the only answer those w%^&rs will understand. They are lucky they didn't suffer the same faith as their car.

Well done,

Whilst revenge wrecking some punk kid's car no doubt provides a great sense of satisfaction is there a better way to make a longer lasting impact? I don't suppose the kids could afford much anyway? For a few hundred quid they are up and running again

What if you took a movie of them commiting their crimes? Would the police be able to use this to prosecute? I'm certainly not moralising here, just want to know how a criminal act like this would be treated if it was caught on camera? Also, any ideas what the judgement would be? Slow roasting alive maybe?

They might if the images were 100% clear. Then the scrotes would get a week in the Bahamas in compensation for you having violated their privacy by taking hidden video footage of them. .

Seriously though, the police can use the video footage, especially if there are other eyewitnesses. However, the punishment would not really fit the crime and you would really only have the satisfaction of knowing they now have a criminal record.

Damn right, it was purely motivated by revenge. What form of justice isnt? And yes it felt great. It wasnt a bad car either - Peugeot 306 worth about £2500 I reckon. Well, it's not such a good car anymore....

Hmmm, we thought about this but decided not to waste any more of our taxes on police timecourts etc. What would they have got anyway, a slapped wrist?

Yeah, its pathetic that people have to show their envy that way. I have a friend with a really nice light blue lower S10 truck (a little ghetto I know, welcome to the states) and some guy kicked off his left side rear view mirror! Luckily no one has messed with my car yet but if it happens some heads will be flying!

Killing them would stop them doing it again. That's fairly long lasting I would say!

Take a movie of the mot@@@@@@@urs own death and post it on the net that might stop these fu@@@rs messing with others goods. Harsh I know but with fewer cops on the street someone's goto look after us.

We live at the top of a hill. When both kids were at home two cars were parked on the road. As the houses were built around the turn of the centuary none have garages at the side (mine is at the far end of my garden ~100 yards from the rear of the house) so most houses have between one and two cars parked outside (on both sides of the road).

Six years ago, at around midnight one night two worthless cts went down the road on skateboards (we heard them) and keyed every vehicle down the road - probably about 50 cars in total.

The police couldn't be bothered to attend.

The following night the same (we think) two cts returned and had a foot race down the road - or rather over every bonnet, roof and boot on both sides!

Again, the police couldn't be bothered to attend, despite reports from over a dozen car owners during the night and more the following morning.

With a dozen other householders I went to the local police-station to make a formal complaint. Having stated our business we were kept waiting for about 20 minutes. After 10 of these minutes my wife rang me to say that the Area Car had just arrived with blues and twos on (some 9 hours after the incident) followed 5 minutes later by two cars each containg a SOCO. Coincidence? I don't think so!

The damage must have totalled several tens of thousands of pounds ... but it took a delegation to get police attention/action. So far as I know no arrests were made.

Having had the wind taken out of our sails by this we were left with making a strong statement to the Duty Inspector that if the scrotes returned the police could expect to find them tied to the lamp-post outside the police station when it opened in the morning! He then got on his high horse, quoting "unlawful arrest" and didn't like our riposte that whether the arrest was unlawful or not it was measurably better than his policemen managed to do (there had been a spate of burglaries from sheds, garages, gardens and houses in the area - which again had apparently only resulted in Crime Report Numbers being issued, and no other action)!

[rant off] Sorry, this started as a statement of our mis-fortunes and ended as another tirade against policing in this country (BiB, please note that I am still attacking the system, not the personnel).
