Just driven past Richard Alexanders (Massingberds as was) in Otley.
Could have sworn it was there last week, now empty and deserted.
Anyone know if it's just that branch or all of Richard Alexanders?
No idea, but I went for a job there earlier in the year....kinda glad I didn't get it now Could have sworn it was there last week, now empty and deserted.
Anyone know if it's just that branch or all of Richard Alexanders?

They're moving premises this week!
Really - moving to where?Surprising given the downturn and that the site they are on could only really stay as the same usage or go to housing...
Or is it one of those marketing things - similar to the ones you see on some estate agents "we are moving to bigger premises" with a new address that just happens to be one of their other, bigger offices that has been there for years?

I've just found out from a pretty reliable source that they have gone bust.
Shame, that's the credit crunch for you. People need to start spending some money, then we might get back out of this mess. The media hasn't done anything to help.
Sorry, rant over.

OK, maybe I'm wrong, I hope so, but it came from someone that works for them and doesn't know how long he's got a job for.
As for keeping it secret, it's a privately owned company, so their finances are not in the public domain and that makes it much easier to keep it quiet for longer.

Well that's true at all dealers (and many other places too) at the moment.mitch78 said:

They could keep their wobbliness quiet, but not if they've actually gone bust.telecat said:
Volkswagen Website has the Otley Location pointing to Menston. Presumably the old Vauxhall Dealership.
Hmm, will be interesting... close a site, remove all stock, before the new one is ready? Pay all the staff in the interim and take into account the lost sales? That's just burning cash (OpEx/Capex with no income!)- I can't think that they were needed out of the old site quite so quickly. How far from ready is the new one? - I haven't been past for 2 weeks - it's the Vauxhall garage by the old Hare and Hounds / ambulance station in Menston isn't it?

There were lights on inside like it was being fitted out
but no signage or anything outside
so still a way from finished IMHO
I may be passing tomorrow so will report back
