Wondered if anyone had any views on tyre pressure,
During my weekly tweaks I thought I had better check the tyres. Only 18.5psi at the back though the handling was fine, well if you don't mind the back sliding. Inflated the back to 23psi and the front to 22psi, time to test out the new ride.
Feels fine now I know that as the tyres heat up the pressure increases. Im at the lights Mr focus RS behind me Im off only a short blast to next lights.
Then its time for some more traffic light Grand Prix Revs clutch up nothing!! well nothing but a cabin full of tyre smoke for Mr RS then a rolling burnout across the lights, with snaking and massive blackies on road even got a wave of encouragement from two sports bikes. Great.

Just had a look at your profile

"New to TVR's owned a 2000 Chim for six weeks greate fun, hope my tattered licence lasts till the end of summer".

Don't think it will see next summer if you do things like that

It was not intended the question is regarding tyre pressure, it seems at higher pressures the tyres will spin up much easier than if they are a bit on the soft side.
And incidently the points I have gathered are all within the last year in my everyday Saab, all by the "safety" camera van that stalks Bedfordshire's roads.
No crashes 500,000 miles driven.

Thanks for the advice Evo,
Maybe A nice Moris traveler would be more suitable, man up front with red flag that way the evils of wheel spinning and smoking burnouts can be halted once and for all.

IMHO, traffic light F1 starts should be left to the Max Power brigade. We TVR folk are a much more refined group :leavesquicklyvianearestdoor:

Its your licence !!! But the next time you do it and you hit a patch of diesel on the road don't blame the TVR or the tyres.Seems too many people on here latterly are just driving along and the evil handling TVR throws them in a ditch, for no reason!! These are powerful cars yes the wheels will spin more if your increase the tyre pressures as will any performance car's, thats why manufacturers have recommended pressures.I am sure this will come across as being very sanctimonious but the roads are not the place to do this and think how you would feel if someone close to you was taken out by someone driving like this.Great cars, crap coffins.

Well said that lady.

Though I did once let a Carrera 4 get ahead at the lights (respected his traction control) then 50 yards later let him know his extra 35 grand was all cosmetic

Bobski, I have done the same. Let them jump the lights (and get the traffic camera) and then smoothly and effortlessly let them get an ever-shrinking view of my rear FUN number plate

A journey with no sideways action and/or tyre smoke is not a good journey IMHO

Also IMHO, most people who crash TVRs are the ones who don't habitualy drive sideways so don't know how to handle it when the time comes

Maxers at the lights ? Showing them what a real car/driver combination can do is more likely to show then the error of their ways than a lecture on how that sort of behaviour is best restricted to a race track, you can't even hear the lyrics in that music of yours, all fields in my day.. etc etc

I have to agree. There's no point having a TVR if you're not going to drive it in an erratic and dangerous fashion.

So have you all got/getting neon lights for under your cars?

In my opinion, no TVR needs to do a traffic light GP. I don't know about the rest of you, but I know my car will 'have' nearly everything else out there - I don't need to prove it.

Yep. You don't have to lower yourself to Yoof level. 'Tread softly but carry a big stick' ie be prepared to swat them if they really need it!

What bhave I started.
While I have described the take off as a trafic light grand prix it is only a description.
I have plenty of experience with powerfull cars bikes, and planes so feel that the occasional bit of highway holiganism "just another description no reference to my attitude" is all par for the course.
As I mentioned this was origionally a thread about tyre pressures and yes I guess I'll drop them a bit last thing I need is a rolling smoking burnout is it now.

So you bought a car that has ludicrous acceleration so you could drive it slowly

No, of course not! But burning off a Lax Power muppet is no fun. Giving it some down a nice twisty B road is much better. The point I was making was I can out accelerate most things off the lights, but don't need to. People look at the car anyway without me lighting up £250 quids worth of rear tyres. If I saw that, my thoughts would be somthing along the lines of ' What a w@nker, does he really think that is impressing people?' You just don't need to if you drive exotica.
