£4.50 a gallon so that costs 75p a mile.

If I travelled 1 mile on a bus it would cost me £1.

Therefore... your car is cheaper than public transport :-)

On a more serious point do you see better economy in P400 mode than P500?

6 mpg in my E39 - after the service centre forgot to reset the mpg after they test drove it (i'd reset it when it went in). It wouldn't bother me, but from the miles covered it was probably cold.

I've seen 6, but on as brighter note, when I filled up earlier today after a reasonably long trip, it showed a range of 322 miles!

The worst I have seen in my E39 M5 was 8mpg.

Filled up at a service station in Italy then went straight up an Alpine pass. That was flat out for 25 miles. just over 3 gallons at £5 ish so £15 for the best 20'odd minutes of driving ever!

A lot better value than hiring a go-kart, though I did have to buy the car and get it to Italy!

Seen the opposite - "99.9mpg" down hill in the Alps - playing silly b*ggers for a bet, won't do that again, too many off piste plummets availalble!
