Seen some jewelry for the other half in Goldsmiths. Would you haggle over prices in a high street shop ?
Yes, and with jewelry I'd be more inclined to find the smallest place I could where you've a better chance of dealing with the owner/someone with a more vested interest than a store manager.guess you've been spending quite a bit to get £200+ off a watch,
I Worked in a high street jewellers for a year or so ( part time ) and not many people asked, Depending on the item they may give 10% off or maybe more in special cases ( spending a lot, or buying a few things ) but generally the manager would just say no.
I'd ask him whether they'd be able to get any discount, and unless it was one of the expensive watches he'd just say no normally.
From his point of view they would sell anyway, so no real need to offer discounts
Obviously it would differ in Ej's or goldsmiths buying a £500+ watch.
I would definitely ask, but depends what it is/how much it is

My O/H bought my watch five years ago at christmas when they would have been very busy anyway, she went in with a foul bid(she Wholesales clothing and its the way they do business apparently)! and the jeweller immediately refused but offered £500 off.
My dad recently got a £200 leather jacket for £120 just for being nonchalent,he told the salesman he`d look around and went to walk, salesman asked "how much you got for it"?"£120" came the reply,"done!".He was only going to go into M&S for lunch then go back and buy it anyway.
It`s always worth a go.
These companies always have a margin, some have a very big margin.
Remember it costs nothing to ask.
