I after some forks for my Specialized Epic. I mainly do XC riding with a bit of DH. They need to be 100mm travel preferably with a lock out for the flat stuff. I have 6" Disc brakes. Current forks are Manitou Axel pro's.

Budget is Max £400 however I would rather spend less!

I have been looking at these

Anyone tried the Terralogic fork?

Or these at a far more sensible price

Or4 recommend me something else.

Actually, try a set of RockShox Reba forks.. lighter and tad more adjustable than the recons. Seem a better option than the cheap fork versus the (good) but expensive Fox ones.

Merlin cycles are doing specials on them now.

Air sprung so light, you can wind them out a bit for the downhills, they have a lock out and are within your budget.

Hmmm... I was not looking at adjustable travel however I do have it on my current forks, I've got to admit I don't often adjust away from 100mm. Still it would be good to have as an option.

or if you are on a budget some Odurs - an excellent fork for the money IMHO, and as smooth and comfortable as anything else i have on my bikes at the moment (and that includes Fox and Marzocchi)

There are a few problems with being different.
First of all it can be hard to get spare parts for them (I owned a set of Dorado's about 5 years ago and struggled. They were a rare fork but from a well known manufacturer and it was still a PITA)
Those Maguras have an dual arch design. Like Manitou forks this means they have to be longer than an equivalent standard design fork for the same amount of travel other wise the brace will hit your downtube. This means you either have a jacked up front end or less travel than you want.

good points FloorTom. Is it still so difficult to get Magura parts nowadays? I have no issue getting disc brake parts from them.

The dual arch design issue is interesting though - i never knew they were built longer than other forks to accomodate this.

I've got sid Teams. great forks for xc, quite hard at the recc pressure which i like and light. not sure how good they will be for DH though. i sometimes forget to switch the lockout off and it doesn't make that much difference...

Just a bit of an update and more questions!

I have more or less decided to go for Rockshox Reba Race forks. Merlin have a good deal on at the moment.

http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&prod...

Only issue is the Reba comes with the Poploc Remote lockout, has any one used this? Is it good or bad? Unfortunately they do not come with a standard lockout knob so I would have to use the Poploc or not have lock out.

Can give a big thumbup for the Rockshox Revelations.

Possibly a tad XC biased for what you want, but the longer travel settings (up to 130mm) work fantastically on my Sub 5.

My good mate of mine just bought a SC Heckler that came with pretty much new Rebas on it (completely wrong for a Heckler). He's fitting some 36's, would you be interested in the Rebas? I don't have any details on them now, but could find out.

Yes PM when you have details. They must be 100mm travel to suit my Spech Epic

The poploc remote lockout is quite handy and less of a gimmick than it first seems IMO. I know it doesn't seem like much to have to reach down to the fork crown to engage/release it, but when you're riding, it's so much easier having the controls on the handlebars. Mine also has compression adjust, some do, some don't.

Aren't there supposed to be some durability issues with the poplocs?
