It was me at about 0900 returning to Romsey from Gatwick fairly heavily loaded down with suitcases.
It is a Monaro VXR but rebadged back to a GTO
Best regards

I know its non of my business but if you don't mind me asking if it was a VXR Monaro why did you re badge it GTO?
It is a Monaro VXR 6.0 litre LS2 which was a GTO in Oz and the USA (slightly different body styling in USA) As I understand it Vauxhall invented the Monaro VXR branding version to kickstart their sportier models across the range. Check out ultimategto.com for the details going back some years.

Cheers. Thanks for the information

A bit of misleading info here. The Pontiac GTO (USA) and the HSV GTO are not the same car. AFAIK, no HSV's were sold in the USA, the Monaro CV8 was exported to USA with LHD, 6.0lt LS2 (unlike OZ CV8 which had LS1 5.7), no climate control and maybe a few other differences aside from the badges and the ugly front end. The HSV GTO (5.7 - 2004 and 6.0 - 2005) were rebadged to Monaro VXR for UK market.
Not a big issue and not misleading and I am only familiar with the 6 litre GTOs not earlier ones. The Pontiac GTO I drove in the USA is exactly the same as my UK car except for body styling and indicators and rear axle - in the UK is seems to be a Carlton back axle - and also the steering wheel is on the other side in the States. I agree, not a big issue, your post implied the Pontiac GTO and the HSV GTO are the same - they are most definately not. But I do commend you on rebadging your VXR to show it's true heritage, likewise my VZ CV8 rebadged to Holden. (Confuses the sh*t out of most chavvy types
