Folks, can anyone help me out???.

I bought COD5 on friday morning, played the game most of the weekend in solo mode, got a good way through the game. Turned the XBox on yesterday to try and complete the thing.

It came up with the following message, "please place disc in a XBox 360 console" in multiple languages. Basically doesn't get past this message!.

I've tried powering on and off, I've removed the power/AV cables and re-inserted. I've tried other games and still get the same issue.

I'm gutted I can't play my new game now, any idea's on what I can do?.

Ring Microsoft and send it off for repair.

Either send it for repair or buy a secondhand replacement with year's warranty at Game (I chose the latter when I found out the repair cost) with the same problem.

Your DVD drive is FUBAR.

If it's still within the 12 month warranty, call MS and they'll arrange to have it picked up.

If it's out of warranty but less than 3 years old, and you're not overly burdened with scruples, try Googling RROD and wrapping it in a towel....

Like I said, Google it! wink

(In short, you're trying to artificially cause it to overheat so as to give rise to the three red rings, which MS will repair up to 3 years old.)

You're gonna like this chaps, went home last night armed with a bunch of things to try after researching the net yesterday.

Nothing worked until I tried lifting the front of the box 6 inch in the air whilst trying to load the game, it kicked into life and now all is fine. Well for now at least. Seems like the DVD heads may have been stuck or something like that?. I may even relocate it and try it vertically to see if that helps.

It's a strange one but if ypou get this error message trying shifting the console around a bit, I'm sure it will help.

Thanks for your replies all. Just glad I didn't get the 3 rings of death ;-)
