Another PH'r just sent me a text asking if I'd gone to the 'Sunday Service' yesterday?
Did I miss something?!
Invitation only I'm afraid Did I miss something?!

Just seen the facebook pics - looked fecking awesome! Was it just too exciting for us lowly mortals?

Claire
Story will be up soon but, as Charlie said, space was a huge problem. The car park holds 70 normal cars, let alone super cars, and there is no public parking for about a mile in either direction. Given that we can comfortably manage 500 cars at a normal Sunday Service, we couldn't take the risk of publicising it widely on the site.
ETA - and before anyone comments, yes that is a Quashqai and a Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S that you can see. Idiot owners ignored all the advice not to leave anything at the venue the night before, and consequently found that their cars weren't going anywhere for 3-4 hours longer than they'd anticipated...

Apart from the carpark in the pic there is no other parking there John, just not logistically possible for a bigger meet i believe.
So, a small venue was picked by PH for a 'Secret' Sunday Service and it was invitation only?Lovely, that will make us lowly mortal people feel much better.
It makes being here since 2001 seem so worth it...

Quotes from the most well respected and famous of PH'rs in January 2007:
"I’m very excited by what Haymarket can bring to PistonHeads. They respect and understand our community and know what’s required to keep it special. There are no radical plans for change – it’s a site and community that has proven itself and doesn’t need big changes."
"Please rest assured that PH will retain its integrity and magic"
I've said my piece and now I'll shutup - although I can't promise that the odd sarcastic comment won't come out...

i saw the invite a month ago and it was explained in there that it was more a
advertising and news article/private gathering and the car park was only 50 spaces, i didnt attend but i was lead to belive its so mayhem didnt happen.
basically just like a private meet, these things happen up and down the country all the time, dont see the issue. will be a good article i hope

John, It was not a Sunday service. Chris Evans invited 65 supercar owners down to his pub for a sunday morning meet. But due to space constraints it had to be kept secret.
There is no conspiricy here
So which of your supercars gained you an invitation? There is no conspiricy here

ETA: Told you I'd limit my comments to sarcasm now...

John, I do get your point. I shall ensure it's heard.

will now revert back to sarcasm...

Just wanted to add to Teds words....
This event was a trial with Evans group, P1, PH and Autoglym.
For this particular one we chose a heavy bias towards supercars, next time we'll have different cars, and different again after that- but only up to a max of 60 odd cars.
A large open PH meet is being investigated at other larger venues, as sometimes you can only have so many people at an event and this was one of those times. We/ I are trying to explore the future of PH meets and will try a few methods over the next few months and see what works best.
The PH open SS meet started with 150 cars and ended up attracting almost 500 cars and that can't continue without us hiring venues and charging entry. Our Tonbridge venue will no longer allow us to come along unless we cap to 150/200 cars and on a sunny day we just can't promise them that.
That said, the Mulberry may not be the right place as when the carpark is full, that's it and there is no public parking for miles. I agree that it's a shame PHers/ Public/ Passers by can't come along and view the cars once they are parked up.
Onwards and upwards......next we are talking to a couple of much larger venues for a huge 'open' meet, while still trying to offer free entry. Fingers crossed.
