OK.... Addmission time.... I haven't had to add coolant to a car for years and I'm no mechanic.
I have the 'bible' and I'm assured it's quite easy to do but do I need to use a special coolant?

Anti freeze mixture is typically used. If you need to add a lot, make sure that you use the filling instructions in the bible to prevent air locks.

Add a mixture of one third antifreeze/two thirds water. (If you're adding very small amounts e.g. less than a liter as a one-off then you can get away with neat water.)
