Reading some peoples comments about their driving style and others about never doing track days I was wondering

Why did everyone get their cars ?

I've always liked fast cars and driving fast, and always want to know the limits of the car (and myself) I can't see how you can have a car like a TVR and just be happy driving it on the road

Why buy a car with such fantastic acceleration and road holding and use it as a fashion accessory

Maybe that's what some people want? TVR's are incredibly stylish, afterall.

I bought mine because its British looks good, is British, sounds awesome, and it's British. The fact that it's fast is a bonus. I don't do trackdays, because it's my daily driver, and I can't afford to stuff it.

I drive like an old granny ()no offence to any faster driving old grannies out there!). I heard a wedge about 15 years ago, and loved the noise. Chimaera was cheapest modern-looking tiv I could find that looks and sounds lovely!

Well I've never taken mine on a proper track day but I can usually get the tyres to bead up on 'normal' road driving
I bought it because it was the fastest 2 seater open top car for the money at the time, oh and the noise it made
I would say I drive quite hard on the road, usually early on a weekend morning, believe it or not the roads can be quite quiet if you get your times right

Yes, but you can get the roofless burble with a Cobra kit or a sunbeam tiger, neither of which are that fast or handle that well (compared to most TVRs) and a fk site cheaper too

I've always liked fashion-accessory cars and driving slowly to pose so people can see me, and always want to know the reactions people give to the car (and myself). I can't see how you can have a car like a TVR and just be happy driving it fast on the road so everyone misses you go past.

Why buy a car with such fantastic looks and road presence and use it as a racing car.

Not my words just those of a poseur.

1) I like it
2) I'm not prepared to risk taking £20K's worth of TVR home in a carrier bag, nor have to buy new tyres after every session. If I want to hoon sideways round a track, karting is cheaper and safer.

Oh and if I had digital copies of my last trip out on track in my previous car you'd understand why the TVR's stuck to being a danger on public roads, and not ventured on track
racegirl actually came of worse, needing a quick trip to casualty

1)Because I wanted it
2)Because I can
3)Because some bloke told me it's a man's car and a woman couldn't cope with it. Yeah right, watch me sunshine!

It spoke to me, it said "buy me".

But it was when I started having a conversation with it in the showroom that I got some really odd looks

But why a TVR, I agree it's not a habitual track day car, and that karting is immense fun. Why did you like it then, If not for the power and handling (which IMHO you can't really experience on the road, certainly not without trying it on a track first)

twonk.

there is nothing more fun than driving a fast car slowly. let every bu**er beat you at the lights. Let everyone cut you up, let everyone out of junctions.

Smile sweetly and watch their blood boil. YOu don't have to prove a thing.

And I can't afford the tyres

The tyres for TVR's (well Rover V8 and earlier) are really quite cheap, even SO2/3/whatever's nexts, probably 4's are 'only' about £100 a corner compared to racedads rear tyres at over £200 each

Not the same burble .

That'll be a good reason for not picking one of those then ..

If I was that worried about the cost of my motoring I probably wouldn't have bought a TVR now, would I?

Just in case you're not convinced, I have a third word for you:

It's simple:

It's the best looking, best sounding, British built, individualist motor car available.
