Organic Turkey crown?

I've been tasked by MrsR with buying the turkey.

We need it to feed 11 people but I have no idea on the weight-per-person ratio so pointers here would be handy.

Where should I be looking to buy from? Online ordering is fine but I'd rather not have to wait until just before Christmas for it to be delivered.

Christ, in this house that would require two turkeys.

Me, MrsR, My parents and brother, MrsR's parents and Sister, 1 Nan from her side and potentially 2 grandparents from mine! We didn't quite realise what we were letting ourselves in for!

If we need two then I'll buy two, not really a problem. Luckily my parents live quite local so I've prepped the old dear to cook some stuff and bring it with her.

I would reckon on between 6 and 10 oz of meat per person depending on appetite and how much stuffing, spuds and veg you are doing as well. Add the bones and other bits so say 12oz per person so looking at about 130 oz or about 8 1/2 lb IMO. You could go for something a bit bigger and have leftovers if you are worried about not having enough on the day.

I went to order our x-mas turkey from a local farm that rears birds for sale at the gate last week. Very sad to see the farm's gone under. Got one ordered from here in the end http://www.madgettsfarm.co.uk/
