Hi all,

Anyone able to offer a passenger run to me in a s.2 Exige with aftermarket forced induction added to the Yota engine?

Katana/Komotec/SP offers all invited.

I'm in Cambridge and happy to travel a couple of hours or so for the privilege, will happily pay for your fuel and a contribution towards tyre tread wink

Anyone with experience of the various options wanting to chip in with your thoughts on which would be a good/better/best option for my car: 55 plate Exige Tourer with a/c, completely standard exhaust, brakes, springs etc, thanks for your input in advance. I'd probably get adjustable ARB fitted at the same time - and interested in what other upgrades and tweaks the cognoscenti would suggest, budget depending.

And to forestall any suggestions, I've no interest in changing the car or a full engine swap. Thanks.

Tol

Have you tried posting on SELOC(www.seloc.org)?
Should get a lot more responses on there smile

That's my backup plan.

I thought I'd try here before there - they're slightly more fanatical about their particular favourite build there, and I don't want... a honda/audi conversion (N/A or F/I) a 340R, 2-11, s.1 because they're _so_ much more hardcore, Exige S because they're really affordable at the moment... etc etc

wink

The general consensus always seems to be upgrade the power last of all, no matter how tempting it seems to plump for that 1st. Having said that, if you're just using it on the road and not getting near the limits of the car then it's probably less of an issue. Usual upgrade path being driver->brakes->driver->suspension->driver->power. smile

So advice will always depend on car usage and budget. If the budget is big then its AP brakes, pagids RS14's all round, nitrons/ohlins (plus the ARB), 2bular/larini..... usual story.

If you're going to track the car after Katana you might need to check if your car came with twin oil coolers, most touring packs didn't and some people feel that this can be issue with track use.

Useful, thanks.

The other commonly raised issue for the Yota engine on track is oil starvation, and pressurised or baffled sumps as a good preventative. My first read-through researching left me with the imporession that the accusump was the preferred option, but recent comments from some of the Lotus sages seems to favour the baffled sump option...?

Have you given Sinclaires a call to ask if you can have a try in their Katana demo car?

Blimey after the Scuffers honda S1/VX220 thread on here.....
But anyhow-
Have a look in the technical section, theres a thread running about Katana'd N/A Exiges in there at the mo.
There seem to be a few converted Yota cars on SELOC,seems like a popular upgrade path instead of going down the 'S' route.
Its not that bad over there, honest wink

To that though I'd add that for road use the limit and A to B performance is not really relevant, and neither is improving it with trick suspension, brakes or tyres etc. Most people upgrade the power because flooring it and accelerating quickly is fun, and it's a lot safer fun that hammering round a corner so fast that you notice your Ohlins dampers working properly wink

Exactly my point above; you're not really going to notice expensive brakes/suspension on the road as much; so it always depends on what you're using it for. There's no doubt that supercharger rush will be addictive, but eventually the horsepower fairies will come and slowly take them away and you'll always be left wanting more.. smile
