But as they said, there's more to it than just money, it's a home, and people sometimes have to move, sell or buy for many reasons such as jobs, births and bereavements.

Too right.

Two sets of friends have just recently bought lovely houses (both 200K properties) here in the midlands because they are starting family life.

Dont see the problem. Both houses will gradually be fixed up over the coming 12 - 18 months.

Where do they get their info from?

Apparently in the period from August last year the property market in Hartlepool has been climbing steadily. I would like to know when they stopped counting. Since the start of the year new build developments have stopped, 2 estate agencies have closed, the property section of the local paper has gone from 12 pages to 4 and sold signs are becoming a rarer sight than a Ferrari Enzo.

But its OK because Kirtsy and Phil said so. I know TV contains some facts but they really like to sugar coat them.

..anybody else think that Phil's desperation to do well by the buyers of that funky bungalow cost them their dream home? They were happy to pay well above £130k but his funny maths (next door sold for £152k - we don't know the circumstances, but let's ignore that - less 10%) and desire to get a deal meant they missed out. OK they went back with a higher offer but if I was the vendor I'd have told them to stick it. Good luck to him trying to rent it with that decor though!
