Very seriously considering making the move next year. Crap time for my line of work, but there is still planning stuff out there, so worst comes to the worst and I'll stick in a local council for a while.

Went on a holiday, fell in love, blah blah blah so figure I'm young and have no ties so might as well do something different.

No doubt everyone will chime in about how bad the country is, but to be honest it's no better nor worse than Australia. Just different.

Sounds like you're trying to rationlise the move, Just go for it and mark it down as an experience. I did the same thing, the other way round when I was 19.

Possibly a little bit because of the whole economic thing, but stuff it. Young and no ties. Now, to sell a car I only got in may of this year.

"Young and no ties" - you will never have a better opportunity. With only your dick to keep I couldn't think of a better way to go and explore the world.

My basic thoughts. No mortgage, no nagging wife or long term girlfriend. Cheap M3s.

It's something I wanted to do for a while, but I am now registered with recruiters and applying for the relevant bits and pieces.

I only got back from a european holiday 2 weeks ago though.

Uh oh biggrin

Mind you, I can't talk, I did the same thing in reverse (ish - she's in New Zealand, not Oz).

I've seriously thought about what you're thinking of doing too.

Way I see it, if it don't work, it don't work. Wanted to move beforehand, just have an added incentive now. Besides, nothing more panty-dropping attractive than someone moving across the world to be with you

But even if nothing works out I'll still be happy. All those lovely driving roads. Cheaper decent cars. Lovely pubs. Amazing scenery. So close to Europe. Better beer.

Go for it. Or get her to come over to you. No one in their right mind would go to NZ

We shall see. She's coming over in February for a couple of weeks to see me and her sister. Seems an age away, though.

There'd have to be a divorce before anything permanent happened, too paperbag

I think that depends on how old you are. NZ looks like a great place to retire.

Rubbish, NZ is far better than you think.

Cars are cheaper than Australia, the roads are far less crowded and better for driving. Motorsport community is far better, scenery far more stunning than Europe, far more 'British' than Australia etc

The one big downside in NZ is salary, but that will depend on what you do and whether you are used to London wages.

Oh. There is that. I'm looking at a move in Feb/March and can't wait.

Nah. NZ is not to bad, just usual Australian/NZ rivalry happening.

And don't think I would live in london. Most of the work is there, but it's not really what I desire. But we'll see

Yeah, slightly over my head...

A pineapple is $50AU because of the colour. Apart from that no clue.
