As we know that stirling is low agaist the Euro and Dollar and to get us on our feet again we need to sell ourselves to the rest of the world, but what do we export that is actually British owned ?

whisky apparently smile

that rough Scottish type, not the triple distilled Irish loveliness they call whiskey.

O/T anyone else remember the minder episode where George Cole gets nabbed by a Scottish villain as he had sold him a load of whiskey from the govt bar. the Scottish guy had the hump as it was whiskey not whisky, and George Cole got out of a beating by telling them it was because it was govt issue, so subject to a 'E' notice hence the spelling smile

Pork. Not much, but the weak pound is helping because the continental stuff is getting more expensive to import.

But all the feed wheat and soya we import is also getting more expensive.

Bugger.

ETA: buy more loins you buggers. Just 'cos the credit is crunching, doesn't mean you can live off sausages all the time. They may be tasty, but they're not good for you. Unless you plan on buying chicken instead, in which case they are an excellent choice for every meal.

I may or may not have a vested interest in the level of pigmeat consumption.

Motorsport related stuff is one of our greatest exports, maybe not in actual tangible products, but consultancies etc.

Racing cars smile Lots of them. Not sure if we still do, but we used to make all the Indycars, and plenty of cars, chassis and engines from other series. Plus most of the F1 teams are based here: Mclaren and Williams for instance, and even Ferrari have their design house and gearbox manufacture in the UK I believe.
