I've got aircon in my Tuscan and I had no problem with it when I imported it, I just had to sign a form. I'll have a look tonight for that form. Are you using a custom broker to do the paper works for you? If you are then he/she should be able to get around that for you.

Yes I'm using a broker but he has asked me to fill in a form which asks what refrigerant is in the aircon. I must admit that I thought that if the car was newer than about 1998 there wasn't a problem, but not so sure now. I think I'll double check...guy wasn't the usual contact at the broker.
any info gratefully received

Just checked my documentation. I didn't even have to fill in an official form. My broker just asked me to sign a generic letter addressed to

Department of Environment and Heritage
Canberra ACT 2601
Ozone and synthetic Gas Team

asking for 'De-Gassing Exception'. I think otherwise, I would had to get my aircon gas removed before they would let it in the country.

Send me an email and I can send you a copy of the letter I signed.
