Hell or Bradford

I always wondered whether there was such a place that could be described as 'hell on earth'. At first I thought it was a load of rubbish until I moved to Bradford.
It seems unfair to tarnish the image of hell without looking at its positive offerings. I wanted to see if hell is a better place than bradford so here goes:
Since moving to bradford I have noted the following:
It is very dirty
The majority of people here do not indicate
The roads are awful
There are more speed bumps in bradford then I can think of
The Broadford Royal Infirmary is way over used and makes the London Undergorund seem under-utilised in comparison
The residents here think it's Pakistan - the last time I checked it is not Pakistan
It seems like a city time has forgot whilst its neighbouring city 'leeds' has prospered
There is a big divide between Asian and Whites. At first I couldn't understand why we couldn't all get along together, I now see why.
There is a distinct lack of professionals here.
People take their entire family shopping at Tesco's at 2am
Residents cannot read road signs - ' priority over oncoming traffic' isn't hard to understand
It rains a lot in Bradford
There is a lot of car crime
The hooligan that overtook me in a traffic calmed area last night turned out to be my neighbour
There is a lot of modified toyota corolla's
People don't understand that you are supposed to but bin bags inside the wheelie bin
People aren't aware that the stunning Yorkshire Dales is a 25 mins drive.
A lot of brand new houses in my complex have very sloped gardens rendering half of them useless
There are hundreds of take-away and half of them seem never to be used yet more are opeining all the time
All the shops have metal shutters
There is a random guy/drunk counting the traffic everyday outside the BRI - he can't hold a pen though
A tyre fitter sprayed my wheel/tyre with spray bleach to see if it was leaking air - I suggested he should dip the wheel in the bath.
The cats cross the road very slowly, perhaps there is some meaning to this?
Hell -
Warmer
The people are nicer
There is more freedom there
The sun is always shining
cleaner
comes highly recommended
less crime
Conclusion - avoid bradford.

I grew up just above the rim of the toilet, but we spent our time outside the bathroom window (in the Dales). It wasn't so bad in the 70s (it would have been much better if they hadn't bulldozed 80% of the Victorian town centre in the 60s and replaced it with concrete), started to go downhill in the 80s, accelerated into the 90s and is now (I imagine, not having been within a few miles of the city centre for 15 years) just as the OP paints it.
Bradford is a perfect illustration of the failure of multiculturalism. It has evolved into completely separate monocultures.

Ghastliest place I have ever been ever (this only applies to the bit inside the ring road by the way). Awful. Like a scrotey version of Delhi.
I went there for a contract interview at Equifax a couple of years ago. I was that stunned that I rang up the agency from outside the place and cancelled it there and then.
I was working at Telewest in 2006 and that was a nice place to work - never left the work 'compound' though.

I lived in Huddersfield for seven years and had to enter this cess pool occasionally. The worst time was when I had to go there every day for two weeks when I was doing jury duty at the courts.

t hole. I hated every minute of being in the place. Even on a sunny day it seemed gloomy there.
Just one question, why did someone decide to put the National Film and Television Museum there?

Great to see that the general Pistonhead consensus mirrors that of my own sentiments.
My wife and I had to move due to the medical roation.
We used to live in kent or the 'Garden of England' as some of you may know it as. Moving to bradford has been traumatic.
The place is in dire straits, there is no pride here what so ever. I can honestly say that I don't see things changing too.
In the short time we have been in Yorkshire, we used to live in a place called Ilkley. Never in my life have I seen such a difference within the space of 15 miles or there abouts.
The only way to apprciate it is to see it for yorself. I simply cannot explain the difference. One house in Ilkley has enough land to build 20 houses in Bradford.
Also, people take pride in their house/gardens in Ilkley. In bradford there is nothing of the sort.

It is nice in Ilkley, a lot out the areas outside of Bradford are nice, apart from Halifax and Dewsbury. Smaller places are nice though.
I have noticed , where ever there is a large portion of the Asian ( brown ) community, then that place tends to be utter crap and dirty.

Whilst I would agree there are parts of Bradford are like hell, it's not all like that, take Ilkley for example. It's got its problems like any large city. I think when people compare Bradford to the likes of Leeds, they forget that Leeds has slums that are as bad if not worse, and certainly bigger than the slums in Bradford plus the roads are better in Bradford than in Leeds.
Bradford is surrounded by fabulous countryside ( just look on Google Maps), but I would hazard a guess that 95% of the Asian population has never been to a place liek Ilkley Moor, which is five or six miles away.
