ford focus tdci engine probs

evening all i have a 03 tdci focus thats quite poorly... firstly it misfires and wont idle( engine managment light on, and there also smoke coming out the dipstick.. not mormal i know but is it a throw away job ?? any help appreciated..

which TDCI? I think some had serious injector problems

Smoke out the dipstick sounds a lot more serious than injectors.

Failed rings?

Hole in a piston.

Low oil level?
