Never really "got" the whole Aston DB9/AMV8 thing as a sports car they just fell short.

This is in a different league though!

A stunning bit of kit. But at £170k you'd think they would do better than the cheapest indicators that they possibly could find in the Ford parts bin...

You should check the used car values, there are some very good prices around.

Cheers,
Ian.

Astons are special machines, hope to own one some day, my dad got one of the first DB7 V12 Vantage's to come out and what a machine it was! I drove it twice, though i was only 17 at the time so didn't get to give it too much beans, :O

Justin, you know the rules, no porn.

And what about the "not office safe" warning.

They hate it when I swear out loud!

Hi Justin

I'm curious, what makes it so different?

For a start the engine doesn't feel so tight as DB9 and actually has some grunt unlike the AMV8. It's very free reving, loads of torque and has a nice bark to it to boot.

The handling is way way better. I have a favourite "handling test" route back from work (it starts at J9 of the M25 and then heads over country B roads for about 10 miles) and I just felt happy to keep on pressing on until I was having the little good driving light indicator feeling happy. I did experiment with the good driving light off switch, and I was able to get to a point that respect for the car and other potential road users overrides the desire to press on.

The suspension has two modes. Effing hard, and so hard your granny would die. Ideally you want a button that takes the effing hard to hard, but the little suspension button just goes the other way.

It naturally hides the fact that this thing weighs 1.7 tonnes with wonderful brakes and fluid steering.

I have to say though that the interior is badly put together (the carpet is already coming adrift) and the switch gear is circa 1980s fiesta at best. Add to that quite a few other terrible cost cutting which probably saved them at most £500 off the build cost but makes the whole thing just so "modern" Aston.

Other complaints is 1st is too short, 2nd too long but 3rd and 4th are just fab. 6th is ideal for motorway work as well.

It does also look the dogs bkss as well. I never really liked the AMV8 (the front on view is all wrong for me), and the DB9 is just too much a GT to be classed a sports car.

However, at £100k (which they clearly will be after either 10,000 miles or 2 years) it's a stunning buy IMHO.

I've seen some 2k 1y year olds around 120. I make that £200 a day or £30 a mile......

Once under £100k the drop should flatten off, but I'm not sure how quick. I'm sorely tempted I have to say if they start heading around the 80 mark.

Problem is even then it'll still be on a deprecation slop that would make the Hahnenkamm look like a starter run.

True, but what "£100k" car isn't at the moment, and at that price when compared to the rest that's in the £100k bracket it's not a bad package IMHO.

Thanks Justin.

Dealers are advertising 2008 models for 140K so they're becoming more "affordable" like everything else, if you have the cash of course.

Do you like it more than the Masser GT albeit that the GT is just that, as well as having four seats for adults.

I've seen a 1200 2008 at just under £130k in a dealer....

Chalk and cheese. I was very taken with the Maser I have to say, and they seem to be well under £60k.

Choices choices at the moment!

Luvverly car,
I tried the V8 and while it handled nicely it was a bit lacking in the grunt dep't.
Likewise the DB9 reasonable grunt but waaaay too soft in the handling dep't.
I must try one of these and see what I'm missing.
It's so sad that they ruin a cars interior for want of a couple of decent looking / feeling stalks etc.
But then Fezza's are the same frown
