So basically, i decided last night it would be a good idea to have a quick feel around, make sure everything was in order. And now i fear it isnt as i can feel what seems to be a small lump. So my question is where do i go, and how do i go about booking a check to either confirm what i fear, or put my mind at ease?

I know there are a couple of members on here who have either suffered with a form of cancer, or are related to someone who has. So any information on the kind of thing they do during tests, and treatment (if it does turn out it is a cancerous lump)

Thanks in advance

Thom

Wa? Have you not heard of the NHS and GPs?

Do you know what a Doctor is? They just might be the people to see, I'm thinking outside the box I know.

Some hospitals have a drop in ultrasound service for lumpy balls. See if yours does and mosey on down, no waiting lists or trips to the docs for referral required!

As i'm sure you know it is pretty much bound to be a cyst, but definitely needs an ultrasound exam (painless) to confirm.

Good luck!

I'll avoid making a joke just incase it turns out to be serious, what i will say, if you have had a fondel of your nuts and found something, go and see your GP, you will probably find however, that your nuts do have some "lumps" as standard.

And if the GP shines a light in your ear, I fear it may well come out the other side.

Good luck with the appointment though.

Start with a doctor, if they have a concern they should soon refer you to a specialist or arrange for a sample of the lump to be taken if they are not certain of what it is. If however you don't feel happy with the consultation don't be afraid to seek another opinion from another doctor. I know someone who had to have 3 appointments before they were finally referred on for the specialist tx that was needed (I hasten to add this was not for cancer)

you say a cyst. now is that a bad thing, or just a natural occurance that will not cause a problem??

sorry for sounding completely retarded in general, but just a little worried and when im worried i switch of all thought process and just tend to panic.

hence the daft. "where do i go" question

Good luck with this.

One thing I will say though if you feel you have anything wrong with you, the first port of call should be a Doctor/hospital.

Don't waste time asking on here!

My father waited a while before he did anything about what he thought was a pulled neck muscle. After a few years of treatment for throat cancer he died December last year.

This might be a good place to discuss/get things off your chest once you know what is wrong or what treatment you need, but if you feel you have a problem Doctors straight away mate.

I had this a few years back. Went to my GP, got referred for a scan/x-ray thingy. Was in outpatients ward for a few hours, they gave me the all clear, was just a cyst. However, a veritable platoon of junior docs, nurses, cleaners etc all lined up to fiddle with the "boys". At the time, i was experiencing considerable pain and when the doc scrummage happened I literally screamed. I got lots of empathic looks from other patients when walking out. They must have thought i was dreadully ill. Nah, just buggers fiddling with me sore bks.

cyst's are fine.
They don't tend to do anything with them.

FWIW when I was diagnosed with testicular, I didn't have any lumps but one was swollen so was about 50% bigger than the other.

Go to you GP asap, it is probably nothing but it's not worth the risk!
were as, i found a definate lump... and that turned out to be cancer.

tho, on the otherside my dad told me he had gone to the docs a few years earlier about a lump he had found, and tests showed that was just a cyst.

Docs and consultants wont beat about the bush - they'll cope a feel... just to check, then send you for an ultrasound - which will show weither it is a cyst or something else... if its not obviously a cyst...then, well treatment is simple and you'll have 2 weeks off work.

if you dont get it checked out, and it is something else - well then, you'll only be worrying that someone will be picking out your coffin flowers. Simply, go to the docs and you'll know one way or the other, and the sooner its done, and the earlier a tumor is found, the less the treatment is.

Hope this helps, I had an ultrasound earlier this year when a regular check up found a lump. My description is on page 4. HTH.
Go to your GP.

Go to your GP. You'll be referred to a specialist under the 'two week rule'. Good luck - hope it's just the clap

Understood. A number of us PHers have been there and a cancer scare is not anything I would wish on my worst enemy.

Hopefully whatever 'it' is will be easily resolved with antibiotics / a visit from the nit nurse.
