I currently have my analogue tv aerial in the Loft. It works great for stock analogue channels, and is ok for digital, but we do get periods of time when the signal drops, which is annoying, but not surprising considering that the aerial is ancient. So I am considering getting a new aerial suitable for digital, I would like to keep the aerial in the Loft if possible. Anyone with experience or in the business care to comment on the wisdom of this path.

TIA.

Better outside but a high gain unit in the loft will be fine.

It also depends how far you are from the transmitter, and if there are any obstacles.

We're about 30 miles North West of the Mendip transmitter and are still using the same pre-digital loft aerial from 11 years ago - works a treat with no issues on DVB (with a masthead amplifier) and the direction is through tiles not the gable.

A masthead amp is the way to go and you minimize damage to your aerial from the elements / lightning.
