Threshers have a 40% voucher off everything at the moment. That might make it the cheapest place.

Their prices are probably 40% elevated in the first place anyhow!

M&S are doing 20% off today, and their Pol Monnet Champagne is already half price from £24.99. That made it £10.39 a bottle when I popped in at lunchtime to pick up a few bottles for my birthday party this weekend. No idea what it tastes like, but I'll give them the good stuff first, and get stuck into this once we're a few bottles down smile

But if you buy Moet you deserve to get shafted.

Anything, even Tescos own (seriously), is better than that puddle of mixed rat and horse piss.

You mean above 40%. Looks like a deal, but you are still shafted.

THe M&S Oudinot stuff is actually rather good.

Moet is pigswill.

Does it have to be champagne?

6-12 Bottles, Majestic is a good shout. Honestly, some of the Cava's they do are really very good and a snip in comparison to Champagne. They will probably even allow a little taste of some options. Worth considering.

Your profile gives no indication where you are.

Oddbins on Grainger Street (that's Newcastle) have Tattinger £12 off a bottle so £21.99 and you can get a further 20% off a mixed case (12) which can include Champagne and Port.

I don't know if this is company wide.

Personally I'd go for a good vintage cava!

Depends on what Champagne you are after. Waitrose's vintage champagne (Brut Special Reserve)is an international trophy winner and far better than any of the NV tat that Moet knock out for around the same price (£24.99)

If you want branded then Taittinger Brut 2002 is the one to go for. £32.00 a bottle from Threshers (and affiliates) who have a buy 2 get the 3rd bottle free promotion. You will also find this wine in Tesco (buy 6 bottles get 25% off).

If brand or vintage are not important then it is well worth trying Asda's Extra Special 2000 for £15.98 a bottle.

My tuppence

buy a case of Cloudy Bay Pelorus Vintage - will blow the socks of most Champagne!

£18 a bottle - maybe a little cheaper at Majestic - you wont buy chamagne again - there's no need!

is a little silly as you are comparing two completely different drinks.

and i'd rather have a nice glass of krug to a glass of cloudy bay any day of the week.

The Tescos own came top against all the big houses in a blind tasting of <£50 bottles, at the International wine challenge awards. Currently £12.33 a bottle online.
