I'm after one of these before Christmas, anyone have any experiences, or know where I could get a good deal?

ETA, I am slightly confused. Here's an "All Black",

Orange digits, flat black strap, black lugs. Here's another:

Light grey digits, different (flat) strap.

I prefer the flat black strap with black lugs, with the light grey digits. However the only alternative flat black straps I can find have silver lugs:

Annoying.

Have had x-Lander and Vector Suuntos and both have been impeccable during marathon des sables, mountain marathons, climbing, desert trips and general wear, good bits of kit.

The difference in straps is in the description; there is no official military edition, you have to juggle straps etc ( google suunto core military and go to the suunto.com link) whether a reseller is offering this pre-juggled or not I don't know - phone them is your best bet) or juggle your own.
The all black (not military) is as per the suunto web site, HTH.

Core Military Edition? Despite what you may have heard, be aware that there is no factory-produced 'Military' version of the Suunto Core. You can, however, create your own 'Military' Core! Here's how:

What you'll need:

One Suunto Black-Orange Core wristop
One Flat Black Elastomer Suunto Core Accessory Strap with Lugs
How to do it:

Remove the orange strap from the Core watch
Replace the silver 'pins' in the Flat Black Accessory Strap with the black ones from the orange strap
Install the black strap (with black pins) on the Core body
Sit back and savor the stealth

I looked into all of these last month. Ordered a Yachtmaster in the end as it looked just enough like a standard watch but found them all too big. :-(

Looks good though, shame the box is just a cardboard box but then again, it's a hardcore watch.

Cheers all. This is what I got back from sailgb:

"Thank you for you’re your email, I can confirm that our All Black Military Watch is a model unique to us which is why it doesn’t appear on the Suunto site, unfortunately I have checked the new all black model and the strap fixing on this is different to that on the military version we offer and as such it would not accept the same strap, I am sorry."

I'm almost certain it would accept the same strap, since the watch itself hasn't changed as far as I'm aware, it's just a standard flat black strap, with black lugs.

Think I'll go for the all black, and mix and match a flat black strap.

I've spoken to the sales people at sailgb.com and they've very kindly said that if I buy the Core All Black, and the flat black strap, they'll swap the lugs and buckle from a black/orange strap for me for free, not bad.

Wish I'd read this thread a couple of days ago. I've just ordered a black/orange Core from the US as it was the cheapest I could find and now I've just checked the sailgb.com website and seen that they sell it for the same price without international postage costs or the risk of import tax/duty and the hassle of dealing with a US company should there be any problems with it.
