Well, as most people will no doubt be aware, Hell has frozen over.

Although not even close to the incarnation I loved back in the early nineties, Chinese Democracy is being released...

Will it be any good...? ... and perhaps more to the point, will you buy it..?

I've heard the title track on Planetrock quite a bit, can't say I'm that taken by it, doubt I'll buy it.

I'm getting a friend to buy it for me today. It comes out early in Italy. Oh, and whilst I do like the title track, there's better ones on there.

It's never going to be the same without Slash.

Had a quick listen, better than I expected having only heard the title track, probably one to get for £4 in the sales at some point.

Will listen to some tracks on Youtube before I buy, but it just isn't the same without Slash.

Velvet Revolver on the other hand are pretty good.

Slash's autobiography is brilliant, well worth a read. If you liked that I suggest you read Nikki Sixx's book as well, Heroin Diaries (i think).
Are you a Skid Row fan at all??

Yep! I've read Nikki Sixx's bio and another Motley Crue one (which name escapes me). Brilliant books and what an eye opener! Crazy stuff. If you like those kind of books, try Lemmy's (white line fever).
I grew up in that era - was never really a Skid Row fan altough the first album was very good.

Like most, I have a copy of, and was brought up with Appetite. I will buy a copy of the new album, but purely out of curiosity. I hope it is good but I think I will be a little let down.

I'll get it because I have all the others.

Whether it'll be any good or not remains to be seen but I bet the sales it generates from theyre previous rep will see it selling multi-million figures.

Is it just Axl left from the original band?

It's just not the same without Slash. The new guitarist is a little similar, but looking back through since the late 90's, only Buckethead stands out. He was technically much much better than Slash, but a completely different style and could never really "get" the Slash parts on the older tracks. Probably didnt much want to either though

Chinese Democracy has taken what, 10 years to make? It's not good enough for the wait to me, some old rehash of Appetite demo, The Darkness rhythm guitar thrown in with later Nine Inch Nails sounds does not make a new GnR track

I'm listening to it as a new band... and I like this album.

Yes, Slash is amazing and he isn't in GNR but the other guitarist is pretty good. He has a different style; the album feels different to '80s GNR stuff anyway.
