Any of you folks from Leeds who can suggest any great restaurants?

Anyone been to Anthony's?

Bibi's always used to be a favourite with me. Not sure you can book, but you can turn up, put your name down, and pop for a drink elsewhere while you wait.

Thai Edge was also pretty good, but have not been there for some time.

To the OP you could at least give us a clue to what type of food and affordability you were thinking of, then i'd tell u to try the new curry house in Alea at Clarence Dock

Depends what you want... Anthony's is, clearly, very good and is probably Leeds' best restaurant. But there's a Greek owned and run place in Chapel Allerton called The Olive Tree which, while small, is nice and authentic. There's also Sukhotai (Thai, natch) in Chapel Allerton, which has won various awards - go to the Albert pub opposite for a couple of beers beforehand. There's a good Argentinian steakhouse on the Calls called RiverPlate, and Raymond Blanc opened Brasserie Blanc recently but I've only been there for lunch - it was alright but not brilliant to be honest.

Yep, been to Anthony's and it is really very nice. I had a pigs windpipe stuffed wi mash a bit of it's lung and some stuff that looked like frothed up spit. Fvckin loverly!!

Seriously, it's well nice but If I were going back it wouldn't be with a feckin veggie (my misses) as this meant we couldn't have the taster menu, which is what I wanted!

Heard bad things about the Olive Tree, very overpriced, very average food, very pretentious clientele.

Sukothai in chapel A is simply the best Thai meal you can get, had worse in Thailand! FFS don't go to Thai edge if that's what you're after, stupid prices for nothing spectacular.

Red Chilli Resteraunt is interesting and has that hallmark of any good "foreign" eatery, the foreigners eat there, it's full of chinese dudes thumbup

Pizza, you simply cannot beat a Pizza Express Diavolo on a romano base with a soft egg in the middle, utterly fvcking lovely. Oh and finish with a slab of tiramasu smile

114 The Arch in Pudsey - way out of town. Contemporary English cuisine, or whatever; nice little place that does a killer meat and 2 veg!

There's loads more but not eaten in them all. You tend to get in a rut with eating out and stick with what you know. For me it's usually Pizza Express, Sukothai or 114 th4e arch for a Sunday lunch.

You can't go wrong with Anthony's for a special night out....feckin pricey though!!

Also recommend Bibi's as mentioned, wonderful venue and the food can be A1 providing you choose the right things.

I fancy one of the club nights they do actually, looks really good.

I was very underwhelmed by that place. The process was great fun, he chop. dices, slices and flambes right in front of you. But the food was nothing I couldn't have done at home!

Oh and another good out of town thai place is the Brown Cow and Dragon in Colton. Not quite as good as Sukothai but still very nice, and much better then Thai Edge.

There's a good (for me anyway!) Teppanyaki place just off Belgrave Street, down some stairs on the corner of, I think, Sandanista(?)

Yeah no where you mean.

Sandinista aint bad for a bit of tapas now you mention it! In fact it's one of the better tapas places I've tried.

I'd happily second Thai Edge, if that's your cup of tea.

I have consulted the Pistonheads Good Grub Guide for you : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Sadly I have wasted my time. Leeds is an enormous black hole when it comes to good restaurants. Sheffield, Bawtry of Tickhill appear to be your closest best bets, or try one of the others that have been recommended and post it up on The Guide if it can cut the mustard, so to speak.

OVERPRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for that matter so is Sala Thai, try the Thai cafe on Great George St. with 2 course for £7. better food and better service for 1/2 the price. Not high class though, but it's all about the food.

Can I give a bad review for Live Bait too on the calls: overpriced VERY average fish food, which is a disgrace seeing as we are 60mins from Grimsby and the best fresh fish from the North Sea.

Also thumbs down for "The Post Office" on Queen's Square (or whatever it's called, but it used to be the GPO) Very noisy and expensive.

City centre food = overpriced, crowded and a wallet emptying, do they think we are idiots? Take your hard-earned somewhere else and spend the difference on taxis both ways. It's Leeds, not Mayfair.

Will.

PS. my favourite food: the The Warfedale pub in Arthington. Eaten there a dozen times and never had a bad plate, and it's homely and warm, and they have Black Sheep, and the parking's free, and the surroundings are gorgeous, and the staff are great, and they have pub grub and separate restaurant for formal eats, and and and

Restaurant Bar and Grill on the square is great, just don't go in Loch Fyne next door by mistake.
