Competition Car Insurance
Discussion
CCI are now underwritten by Norwich Union. And they have a clause in the contract saying you will not get a hire car unless you use their approved garages in the event of a claim, none of their approved garages are lotus specialists so you will have the hassle of not having a hire car, or going to a generic carage in the event of a claim. Up to you if this is a problem...
Have you tried Richard Eggar? You get the same 4 days track cover, and they are underwritten by Chaucer - CCI's previous underwriter.

Thanks for the info, I'm lucky enough to have a second car so not too bothered about a hire car. They were very helpful on the phone.Have you tried Richard Eggar? You get the same 4 days track cover, and they are underwritten by Chaucer - CCI's previous underwriter.
£250 with CCI for me ;o) and I've had my car repaired previously with a "Lotus approved" repairer.... IT's not something I'd necessarily seek out next time. It was a new front clam job + spray. Sent back twice because I was unhappy... kerbed alloys (damaged during trailering) broken radiator (clumsy with new clam ??) and sometime later (too late to complain) noticed ill-fitting bonnet, broken clip on indicator wing... So recommendation and surveying previous work are far better indicators in my opinion. but back to CCI

Wont this also depend on the reason your car is in the garage in the first place?Have you tried Richard Eggar? You get the same 4 days track cover, and they are underwritten by Chaucer - CCI's previous underwriter.
ie if its a non fault claim then you could get a hire car and claim the costs back off the other parties insurance.

ETA: there are hundreds of firms out there who will be only too happy to offer hire cars (often very expensive) to non fault claimants.
