The seemingly endless stream of unofficial leaks and spy pictures/videos of Nissan's latest Z-Car finally reaches its peak this morning, with the release of this very flashy official video from Nissan. This lengthy nine minute promo is slick, well-produced and genuinely interesting to watch.

Clever 'x-ray' style images dissect the car, as different aspects are discussed in more detail. Considerable focus is given to the geekier bits of the car, such as the VVED (Variable Valve Event and Delay) system that aids combustion, and the SynchroRev Match system that negates the need for heel-and-toe manouvres on downchanges.

The video explains how some of this stuff works and exactly what it does, and manages to do so in a way that should be accessible even for less technically-minded petrol heads. The clever moving 3D images and diagrams are interspersed with some dramatic driving footage, watching the 370Z elegantly swooping through some twisty bends. At the end some side-to-side comparisons with the 350Z also make for interesting viewing.

I don't like the idea of a "syncro rev match" on a manual, if that can't be disabled it would put me off buying. I like heel toeing.

I think it looks fantastic, especially the interior, the one thing that i hate about the 350z is the interior, it looks so half-assed and last minute

The car looks good on the whole, but unfortunately the reap end of the car from the lights down, looks terrible, so I would not buy one. Excellent vidio though.

I agree with your second point. I have nothing against sequential manuals or automatics. They can be quite good and appropriate on certain cars. It's on those transmissions that automatic rev-matching belongs. I just don't see someone wanting a manual transmission and wanting the rev-matching to be done by anything other than proper heel and toeing.

i am the opposite, although i consider my self proficient, it still leaves half my foot off the break, i would like the security that i dont have to shift off the break....although headlights are rank

I don't understand how this can be? It's possible to cover the whole of the brake (not break!) pedal and "heel" the throttle at the dame time in complete safety. The rest of the foot is redundant during normal braking anyway.

I certainly would not replace my 350Z with a 370z unless this ridiculous "syncro rev match" idea, designed for dimwits and clod-hoppers, can be instantly and permanently dialled out.

I think the 370z will be a big hit...assuming the sports car market is still alive. better handling than the 350z, better interior, sub30k price and if it delivers TT,Z4,cayman performance...Bingo!

People will still be scared by the MPG (low 20's) and car tax (£475) for there ever to out sell something like the TT which comes in more ecofriendly models.

The old 350z was always a better performer than its z4 (3.0), TT (3.2)and Cayman (base model) competition but I don't think the performance gap was large enough to compensate for the perceived lack of prestige.

The arrival of the GTR and now the 370z has taken Nissan out of that exec coupe market and into the world of the Pistonhead! This car now becomes an option for those of us who may look at an Evo, or an Exige as our next weapon of choice.

The fuel efficiency will go up on the new 3.7l engine. With regard to eco friendly TT...hmmm I dont think the avg petrol head who wants a fast coupe is concerned about competing with a 4 pot TT when he has the option of a 330bhp v6 screaming away!!!!

Yeah I thought that.... but got v close to check, def 370Z on the rear, and like the video....... maybe it came from the Nissan Lab at Cranfield...not too far away?!

There are a few pres release cars here . I managed to see on very up close at private viewing! very good stuff so far!
