I've been sat here most of the day trying to think up plausible excuses to get out of going to my sons Christening, but coming up short.

As it's Friday afternoon thought I'd open it up to the PH masses for (possibly drink fuelled, they tend to be the best) suggestions.

I always found a family death was a good excuse. However, in this case I don't think it'll fly.

How about the squits?

get out of going, or converting to islam? hehe

I don't want him christened, I most certainly don't want to sit in a church and witness something happening I don't want to happen.

I don’t understand how you can be asking this?

I assume you are a Christian, otherwise you wouldn’t want your son Christened, but what sort of Christian does want to go to their child’s Christening?
someone married to a christian...?

I thought it an odd question, I assumed you were a Christian.

So your wife must be a Christian? IF I were you I would go and inform everyone that you do not want it to go ahead, a bit like in a wedding!

I am not a Christian and if I ever have kids I would like them to make up their own minds.

Wifey is a Christian... SHE, not we, wants him christened.

Anyway - keep it light, my hatred of organised religion wasn't the point, amusing excuses that may just work was.

I suppose suggesting a bottle of Jack followed by burning the Church down tonight would be a tad inappropriate?

Mate, just go. Even i, faced with this situation couldnt think of an excuse, i have gotten out of EVERYTHING else i've not wanted to attend, like recently with the Sister in laws wedding reception!!

If you dont go, it'll be more hassle than its worth
