How's that? ST220 is approx 220bhp/207 ft Ib's +/- isn't it, and the Focus ST is approx the same at 222bhp/236 ft Ib's +/- & both FWD. Mondeo is also slightly heavier, 1506kg V 1317kg.
The focus is turbocharged, and with a nominal outlay with re-maps etc can reach 260+bhp, maybe more.
Sorry, just curious as to how the Mondy 220 produces the goods easier than the Focus ST engine?
No axe to grind as an ex ST-3 owner, as i would quite like a 220. I was just curious as to how the Mondeo produces the good easier?
Quite happy to be corrected if i have missed the point?

Then add the fact that all of these costs have been drastically reduced and time saved the car can then be modified without half of the hassle or expense of the FST.
The engine from the new st is also available in the new shape mondeo so would probably be the best place to start looking. Tbh not really looked at a new mondeo from the point of comparing the engine mounts etc to the older shape but as a rule Ford tend not to change too much from model to model so may make it a 'bolt in' conversion, although i would imagine an aftermarket ecu would be an easier option than rewiring ur car to run it.

the point I was making was on installation mate as it would be easier to install than the 5 pot engine mountings and looming up as for tuning yep loads available for both never tinkered with them but for ease of install think the V6 would be a little easier to plonk in thats all
I would imagine the ST220 engine, is cheaper, easier to replace (no conversion) and easier to find in a scrap yard/recon.

as the same 1.8 or 2.0 duratec engine slots straight into both the focus st and the mondeo st220 i would have thought the mounting points would all be the same. therefore the fst engine would be a better unit. please correct me if i am wrong.
