For those of you not watching the IT Crowd, this programme is on to remind me just how st my own childhood was.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

You are joking aren't you?

Compare it to today - do you not feel fortunate?

Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw and Spandau Ballet, not really.

I guess my point is that my memories of 1983 aren't represented, if they had New Order, Killing Joke, The Smiths, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Cure, The Fall, Orange Juice and Grand Master Flash on then I would feel less disenfranchised.

It's a marketing exercise by the makers of the "Now that's what I call music" series, which began in 1983, or 25 years ago.

25 years ago I would have loved to have smacked Nick Heywoods teeth down his throat.

Now he just looks like one of those loners who stand on their own at the end of the bar in your local

25 years on, I still fail to comprehend as to who in their right mind would buy that awful record, in big enough numbers to make it no. 1
