A "what digital photo frame" thread

[Captain Volvo]

I want a digital photo frame for my mum for xmas so we can give her memory cards with grandson pics on to load up. It wants to be about £50 or so and approx 7x5 or 8x6 screen size. Ideally it would be rechargeable as well as mains powered but I appreciate that this may not be possible for this sort of money.

Any ideas?

Cheers

We just bought the MIL one from Tesco for £35 ish. Ticks most if not all of your boxes, but not sure if it recharges.

We couldn't get a decent cheap pick-and-mix breakfast though.

Just give her an ordinary photo album with some real photos inserted. The digital photo frames seem like a nice idea but don't hold anybody's interest for more than a few minutes. Waste of money.

The website www.iwantoneofthose.com has a magnetic digital photo frame for 30quid. I'm not sure of the sizes, but I was thinking of getting one for my parents as they already have a load of photos stuck to the fridge.

Some of the cheaper ones can make to photos look a bit pixelated. I'd like to see it in action before I bought it.

At that price you won't get much resolution. I paid around £100 recently for an 800x600 Toshiba frame which was the lowest resolution that I thought would be acceptable, and that was one of the cheapest at that resolution. It is nice to be able to load up a few hundred favorite photos and have them cycle through every few minutes, much more interesting than a static picture.

We market and sell a superb 800x600 res frame that also has a calendar and time display so a bit more useful. You dont have to have that facility turned on however. Takes SD card but also has 256k of internal memory, can be hooked up with supplied cable to your PC and plays audio also! What more can you ask for?
