Danny Baker & Zoe Ball are replacing Jonathan Ross for three months on Saturdays on radio 2 rolleyes I don't think a lot of Ross but I think a lot less of both Baker & Ball.

Why o why do we have to have these bloody so called entertainers presenting radio shows? why can't we just have somebody changing cds playing music instead of the constant stream of "celebs" with the mentality & sense of humour of a ten year old. mad

Well Jonathan Ross is just another "entertainer" doing a radio show, Danny Baker has more radio experience than Ross, Zoe Ball probably does as well.

danny bakers old radio one show was actually rather funny and zoe balls radio one breakfast show was almost bearable. Id rather listen to either of them than that self promoting sycophantic twit whose humour extends to some duff double en tendres (sp?) and making nasty phone calls to old folk.

Its a worry when Chris Evans and Danny Baker are seen as 'safe hands' to leave the light programme in.

I think the answer is because people listen to them

Yes but whether they have more experience or not the "show" is just going to be another boring mix of childish playground humour & Baker chirping on relentlessly with a token bit of music thrown in occasionally.

If they were on radio 1 maybe, where the average age of the audience is 16 with a combined IQ of a tea pot.

your defending Ross by saying you dont like playground humour? Danny bakers a hell of a lot more cerebral than Ross and his oh so funny knob gags.

His "turmoil" imagery was always rather entertaining...

I`ve totally gone off listening to any radio stations now. Apart from 5 live. I must be getting old.

I find Radio 1 too tedious now with the same songs played every hour and I cant stand listening to Sara Cox/ Edith Bowman/ and the other woman thats on late mornings. Their voices grate on me.

Also I cant seem to get into Radio 2 for some reason its just not for me.

So I just listen to sport and whatever crap debate is going on at the time.

If you just want someone to change cds and play music...isnt that something you can do yourself? or am I missing something..maybe you only have a radio in your car?

Try R4 fella.
I've been listening to it for the last week or two now, after a few years of trying to, but not being able to get into Radio 2 - I always thought I'd have to go through Radio 2 for 30 odd years before I got old enough to listen to Radio 4, but it's actually quite good.

I've listened to some informed debate, heard signs of intelligence and last night I was even laughing at some of the jokes. idea

I just need to accept that I'm an old fart now, in my mid 20s. smile

You've avoided PM and Any Answers then. I keep saying that I'll do a Daily Mailish phone call in to Any Answers, but am stopped by the fear that that is what everyone else is doing. Perhaps it's the Mornington Cresent of political radio.

I think Danny Baker is a far better presenter than Ross. The very fact that Ross is still doing the sort of stuff Baker was doing back in the early '90s is the clue.

Zoe Ball has never really moved on from being a kids TV presenter, but Danny Baker is one of the most intelligent people on the radio, and the funniest too, not just on his music shows but also on football.

Plus he's been a DJ for a lot longer than Jonathon Ross, whose puerile humour I tired of long ago.

I am in exactly your position. Have the radio on all day in the van, bored with the constant stream of daytime dross on R1 (breakfast and drive-time shows exempt!), R2 seems to be like listening to a copy of the Daily Mail, so I tuned in to R4 and found an interesting 45 mins of proper, informed discussion about relevant day to day issues. Then it happened again in the next 45. And again. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

I'm 24.

What I object to is the way these 'teams' talk to each other and not to me.
Either do the shows on your own without a sidekick to hide behind and giggle conspiratorally with or don't do them at all.

Radio 4 is excellent, I've been into it for a while.
