As you all know I am no fan of the Tories put plan to increase Motorway and Dual Carriageway speed limits to a sensible 100mph gets my support.

Strangley when the Tories were in Government some 11 years ago I made this suggestion to Transport Secretary John mcGregor the idea was dismissed.

John,

Where did you hear this? Miracle if it happened, but it certainly would be a wonderful relief!

Cheers,
Ian.

hi Ian, long time no see? or is it just I haven't bene on PH much lately?

100mph sounds good ! but the latest ABD newsletter is grim reading, with 50mph blanket NSL, and 20mph in towns. This party sucks.

rgds.

Hi Carl - I haven't been here all that often myself recently!

50 mph? They have to be joking, surely.

Back to the pushbike...

This is 2003.

It seems to me that 100 mph is perfectly reasonable on today's clear stretches given the sheer ability of modern cars.

Anyone who disagrees should be shot.

Thank, Dave; I tire of the short-arsed bile that so constrains Albion's return to majesty.

Alas, having witnessed the uncleansed mass of peasantry that I have been exposed to these last two days, I fear that the enemy is not just within, but standing triumphantly upon Dover's highest cliff with a gun pressed firmly to the neck of a wretched looking John Bull.

I fear all is lost.

Vermin is everywhere and time is all too short...

In taht case, tis time for us to man the ramparts, repel all boarders and do some blood-letting internally to get rid of the parasites that are sucking the life-blood out of our country

Well they certainly won't increase it to 100mph. And given that they never altered it in their 18 years, why should we consider they will if they get in again?

I agree with that statement but its let down by the sheer kwittedness of most car drivers!

Any party can promise whatever they like in their manifesto - just try to make them keep their promises once they are in power. Their usual excuse is something about requiring more than one term to do everything they wanted.

I want a 'none of the above' tick box on the voting slip which I am sure would increase the average turnout to well over the current 30% or so!

Their statements have said raising it to 80 mph. They also want to review speed camera policy and remove cameras that are just there for revenue.

Also talking about being more lenient on people caught at 4.00am on an empty road.

They will get my vote if they carry on in this line.
