Slow cranking on start

A couple of weeks ago my '91 SE started misbehaving. All of a sudden and for no obvious reason it starts a little hard and seems to crank much slower than normal. It always starts, but it seems borderline. I had the battery, starter draw, and alternator output checked, and everything is with in expected parameters.

Any ideas before I tear into it ???

Worth checking earth connection at the starter motor, and at the battery.

Haven't had anyone messing with your timing have you? I had that trouble on a Ford I had years ago.

A agree and would go check the grounds.
