I have the rear plastic window of the top of my griffith with some small scratches and pretty old dirt as i kept the top in the garage for more then two years...is there any home made stuff to clean it and eventually reduce the scratches and increase visibility? Anything on sale? Where?

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Revovo plastic screen cleaner used it on both the Chim (soft) and the Tuscan (hard) screens with great effect.

The Renovo stuff is only a fine cutting paste (IMHO). You could try some of that.

On individual scratches you can use chrome polish, then brasso - I've even tried toothpaste! Then once any scratches are out give a polish like you would the bodywork.

I use some stuff called Hindsight and I find it to be excellent. It's a two part polishing kit and it does take a bit of time and elbow grease but it does restore windows as shown on the site. Hindsight website

To keep the perspex soft and supple and so less prone to scratches and creases I use 303 Aerospace Protectant from Mike at The Polishing Company

I recently bought some Xerapol, a specialist plastic scratch remover for the same purpose and it does what is says on the tin. Also removed a bird dropping etch on my paintwork that Tcut wouldn't so I'm pretty pleased with it.

I go with the Renovo plastic polish. Got mine from www.actproducts.co.uk

Then finished it off with some Carnuba wax.

But beware if you use Autosol or such like on the struts, then it will leave nasty black marks on the rear screen after a time. The clean off but look really horrible!

I find Autosol too aggressive, so I use sime stuff called 'Brilliant' I got from The Polishing Company, it comes in various grades and doesn't generate as much of the black gunge.

I use seatbelt pads on my struts to keep them off the perspex.

strangely after running out of rear screen cleaner i tried to remove a mark with peek and ended up with a load of cloudy smears which i couldnt remove my own fault for being impatient i thought as a last resort i would try a small area with mer car polish which i havnt used for years, that was lying around in the garage and to my surprise it came up a treat so risked doing the whole window and it has come up almost like new smile
