Hi there I'm looking for a display model of an Empire Flying Boat. The only one I can find is the Bravo Delta models one but they seem to be out of stock in most places.

Does anyone know of any other Empire Flying boat models or perhaps Shorts Mayo composite display models?

Cheers.

I know Dinky did a die cast model of the Short C Class in the 1930s. That would now be very rare and highly valuable.

If you are thinking of kits, there are a couple of possibilities -

I think the old FROG company did an injection moulded plastic kit in their pre-war Penguin range. Again, this would be very rare and highly valuable today.

I am pretty sure a now defunct manuafacturer called "Aircraft Models" did a 1/144 vacuum formed C-Class in the 1990s (I have their Armstrong Whitworth Atalanta).

Definitely available at the moment is a Czech Master Resins 1/72 scale S23 (and S30) kit but it is pretty expensive.

Eric is right, I'd forgotten Dinky did one.

However, it's not that valuable (surprisingly).

There's an example here;

eBay Dinky Flying Boat

for very little money. Okay, it's in the States, but small world etc.

They actually did 3;

Dinky No: 60H - Singapore Flying Boat

Dinky No: 60R - Empire Flying Boat "Cheviot"

Dinky No: 60W - Flying Boat

ETA: They did do another and this one does seem to be a bit pricier (and funnily enough it's later than the others);

Dinky 701 Shetland Flying Boat

Thanks guys. Eric I've seen the CMR kit, it looks good.

Red Firecracker thanks for your reply but only one of your links led to a Short S23 flying boat.

No probs, was just including them all for completeness.

Good luck in your search.

The Shetland must have been impressive. It was a BIG flying boat.

For the OP - the latest edition of Aeroplane Monthly features an article on how a Qantas S23 met its end due to an attack by Japaqnese Zeroes.
