Has anyone had Racing Reds fitted to their Cerb for a while, and who can give some feedback?

I can't decide between Protech and Racing Red at the moment, and need some constructive feedback to make a decision.

Also, who is the best value supplier of these shocks?

TIA

I know it's on a different car,but i'd like to hear more about the racing reds.I've seen them and the finish and apparent quality looks superb, just like my Nitrons were, and much better than the protechs i had.Having said that,i always thought the protechs were a pretty good shock, performance wise.I've been told that Absolutely shocks is the sole importer of the racing reds,so Derek might be worth a call?I think he also does protechs and Nitrons as well as the Gaz stuff now,as well?

I have had racing reds on cerb since last june and am very pleased with them. One problem with nearside front banging over bumps this september but was replaced free of charge (faulty seal) by offords.Certainly transform the handling and even on undulating or bumpy roads give perfect direction. I would recommend that you have the geometry set up at the same time by someone who really knows how to do it. Adjustment to the shocks can be made easily without removing the wheels. Good luck with your decision. Regards Tim

I spoke to Derek quite recently and he comprehensively slated Protechs. Now I know there isn't alot in the quality and performance between the Protechs and RR's. So I tend not to listen to opinions that are backed up by unprofessional flaming of the opposition.
I'd be more inclined to believe someone that said, 'yes, the Protechs are a good shock, and very good value. But the RR's are from a better pedigree, etc, etc.'
Hence the thread.
I'm looking for an unbiased opinion from someone that isn't trying to sell me either shock. BUT someone that sells both.
But mostly from the average Cerb driver who has experience of either or both products.

A very wise lady once said to me: if you've got someone telling you some information look at who's funding them. Derek is now a rep for gaz and nitron.

And I also sell Ohlins and Intrax.

I have Gaz Golds and I'm happy with them, but what do I know? I've never had Nitrons/Protechs/Racing Reds fitted so I can't compare. Speak to someone who knows the differences, like Andy at APM, or Joolz at Trackar tell them what your budget is and follow there advice. (And if they both recomend different ones, just Toss a coin to decide, cos they'll both be good smile)

If you have discounted gaz and you don't have the budget for nitron etc then I suggest you just need to seek advice from joolz re reds v protech. If you are in the south then I would recommend a chat with APM. Gaz, protech and reds are probably much of a muchness. The important bit is the set up. If you have the skills of senna then you will need someone to accomodate your exacting set up needs. If you are average then you will want someone to create a nice balance out the box. You can then tweak and fiddle later.

Not much help, but...

I was going to buy them cheap - Gaz Golds off that ebay bloke, which started a bit of discussion here with Abs and Trackcar.

In the end I got APM to fit the Gaz Golds for me.
Although he sort of wanted to fit Nitrons as he shrugged his shoulders!

Very impressive I have to say (compared to 10 year old originals), and one of the Austec lads said "Handles well your car" after he dropped me at the station and drove it back! wink

They picked me up from the station today in a Chimera (no leg room) bone shaker!!

Go on - treat your Cerbera to the best you can afford!
