Just a couple of simple questions....

Wayne, what ratios are you running in your G50??

I have tried searching but with no luck.

Pete, what long 5th ratio did you try in your GTR?? do you think it would be ok with a genuine LS7 650 bhp/ftlbs.

Im trying to get the right ratios for a 7000rpm rev limit, i really want a long 5th to improve long distance motorway cruising (France and Germany). I also want a decent long 1st because its currently useless on my Getrag.

Thanks guys.

Hi Kyle

These are Waynes ratios.

1st = 2.176 = 74.1mph
2nd = 1.579 = 102.1mph
3rd = 1.174 = 137.3mph
4th = 0.923 = 174.6mph
5th = 0.756 = 213.2mph

Ring and Pinion = 3.444

Shift point = 7200rpm

Regards Dave

thanks mate.

that long 1st looks tasty, 0-60 should be quick ie with no gear changes and 0-100 with only one changemad

those ratios look great what do you think Dave??

On hols at the moment - will have look when I´m back.

I recall the 5th was set to 223mph @ 7000 and a 4th to exactly split the std 3rd and the daft 5th. With 650bhp you can do a lot, and if you aren´t greedy with a 5th (ie 205/6/7mph) you might be able to get a one box fits all with just a 5th change. The factory do one, but they rev higher remember.

Adios. thumbup

If you plan to run to 7,000rpm then they are fine as 5th would give 207mph at 7,000rpm. I think mine are the best for my motor with it only running to 6,500rpm. I like my extra tall 0.65 6th cruising at 2,000rpm at 70mph.

i agree, but also gears vs BHP. IE you could put in a 1st to take you all the way to 250mph, but overall acceleration/ qtr mile times would be slow, Just interested in the cross over IE more gear changes or less?

These gears seem very high - IE cruising along the motorway at 70 mph in 2nd gear seems strange !
