Buying an Ebay item which may have oustanding finance

Ooooer,

Having "won" a three piece suite on EBay, I called the sellers phone numbers but no reply. I was given the sellers full name by EBay and knew the name of his city so tried to find his address via Google.

Double oooer. Very unusual name (Russian) which came up as having filed for bankruptcy in September 08. He was a company director and is now a factory worker.

Question: if this suite still has outstanding finance on it and I "buy" it, can the finance company (if there is one) take it from me as they could a car?

I have not paid any money out as it is to be cash on collection. Anyone know the legal position? Just in case...................

Well if he is bankrupt and had the suite on the strap they would have either taken it back or more likely written the debt off, Bankruptcy doesn't leave you sitting in an a empty house nearly but not quite
